Uruguayan President Jose Mujica conveyed his concern at the U.S. Supreme Court ruling and held that the vulture funds intentions are related to the Vaca Muerta oilfields in the Province of Neuquen.
He also said that the region’s countries should do something to help Argentina so that the confrontation with vulture funds would be “with the Americas and not only with Argentina.”
Mujica made this remarks when talking to authorities of the National University of La Plata.
The Uruguayan leader was referring to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that condemns Argentina to pay to the vulture funds, according to Judge Thomas Griesa’s sentence.
“Today, they are after you, tomorrow they will come for me. These funds buy debt bonds for two pesos and later expect to take everything,” he commented.
“This situation is related to the oil findings in Vaca Muerta,” Mujica said. “They will end up requesting that Argentina should pay the debt with these natural resources.”
